Week 10/26/15

The President’s Corner

Happy 5th Week of the Month!  Usually that means we have an additional week before we convene, however we have an extra Rotary related event before our next meeting!  Save the date for the first Thursday of November.  On Thursday, November 5th our sponsoring Rotary club (Rotary Club of South Jacksonville) has invited us their Launch Party at River City Brewing Company.  See more info below.

This past Thursday, we had a fantastic meeting!  We inducted 5 new members! Congratulations on becoming First Coast Rotaractors.  As experienced in your inductions, lasting friendships are made in our club while serving, developing professionally and socializing.  Welcome to the club; we are happy to have each of you as members.

It was also a very special meeting as we were hosted by our 2015 Black Tie & Blue Jeans Gala beneficiary, the  Cathedral Arts Project.

The Reverend Kimberly Hyatt gave a memorable speech on serving and service.   She also referenced a book called Give & Take by Whartonite Adam Grant about givers, takers and matchers.  Here is the link: http://www.giveandtake.com/  to take a self-evaluation.

Have a great week!

November 5th 5:30-7:30

We have been invited to join our sponsoring Rotary club & the new Satellite Club on Thursday, November 5th from 5:30-730 at River City Brewing Company.
The Rotary Club of South Jacksonville and the Speech Committee invite you to the official launch party for the 2016 Rotary Oratory Competition!

This will also be an historical event as it will be the first opportunity for fellowship among all three groups: the Lunch Club, the Satellite Committee and us the Rotaract Club.  Spouses and guests are welcome and we encourage their attendance as well.

There will be a cash bar and complimentary Hors d’ oeuvres, entertainment and  prizes will be included.  Please RSVP to Rotarian Jacqueline Rudloff as soon as possible at Jacqueline.rudloff@db.com.

Club Social
Save the date for Friday, November 14th when we will go to  Catty Shack Ranch.  Click on the link to read more about the kitties at Catty Shack Ranch.  We will meet at 7pm – the feeding of the kitties is at 7:30!

Community Service

Save the date for Saturday, November 21st for our next service event.  We will be helping FarmShare (a food bank) with one of their community distribution.
Volunteers are expected to arrive at 7:30 a.m. at Pearl Plaza Shopping Center. From there, we will be assigned to help bag produce, milk, tea, meat, bread, and water. FarmShare wants to bag as many of these items as possible.

The distribution will start at 9:00 a.m. They expect to serve around 400 people that day. Some volunteers will be helping distribute the bags, others will help people load the items to their car, and others will continue to bag the items.
