The President’s Corner

Many thanks to Mary Jury, Director of Development for BASCA, Inc. and her colleagues for coming to speak to us about this organizations that helps to improe the quality of life for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

As a club, we had a very full Rotaract weekend! A super fun social & beneficial service event, see the pics below.  We’re in a non-meeting week, but don’t forget we have our Membership Mixer: Meet & Greet this week.  Can’t wait to see you on Thursday!

Don’t forget to like our facebook page so keep up with what’s going on with our club!

Also, this weekend was our Rotary District’sTraining Seminar.  We are apart of Rotary District 6970.  Rotaractors from the district assembled to create a district Rotaract website under the guidance of Rotary District Rotaract Chair, Kelly Altosino-Sastre.  Be on the look out for the website: www.rotaract6970.org.  We heard an inspiring speech from the keynote speaker Ramesh Ferris, a Rotarian and polio survivor, about Rotary’s End Polio Now Campaign.

We are having an informal mixer on Thursday, August 20th at Black Finn.  This is where young professionals in our community can come out to meet us awesome First Coast Rotaractors in a casual setting.  So invite all your friends & co-workers anyone that you think would be a great Rotaractor.  Guests that have come to a few meetings or maybe you haven’t been to a meeting in awhile – come on out!  This is a great chance to get to know other Rotaractors one-on-one & feel free to bring a friend!  RSVP to the facebook invite!

Community Service

Thanks to all the Rotaractors & guests that came out to help at The St. John’s Riverkeeper’s McCoy’s Creek Cleanup.  We dug up many non-native items from the river bed of the creek.  It was laborious but we enjoyed fellowship & friendship while serving.

Social

We had a fun time at karaoke this weekend.  Thanks to all the members & guests that came out!

Save the Date for our Saturday, September 19th when we’ll go rock climbing!  Here is the facebook event for it.  The cost is $12.  You will need to sign a waiver one week before the event.  We’ll have waivers at the next meeting.
