Week of 3-28-16

The President’s Corner

March 27, 2016

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  We had a fantastic week of Rotaract this past week.  At our last membership meeting we heard from fellow Daytona State College Rotaract President Michael Tirpak.  He shared with us the Bottle School Project that he has participated in and raising awareness and funding.  He gave an excellent presentation opening with his passion for the project and asking everyone at the meeting what they were passionate about.

As a club, we donated to the cause.  If you are so inclined to make a donation, you can send it to:

Rotary District 6970 York Foundation, Inc
PO Box 47195
Jacksonville, FL 32247
(In the memo line include: Rotaract 6970 Bottle School)

A big thank you to Michael & their president-elect Alyssa for making the trip to our meeting & sharing this project!

At our meeting, we also had fellow Rotarian Les Loggins.  He shared with us the upcoming Rotary fundraiser at the Alhambra Theater on Wednesday, June 1st.  He has donated 4 tickets to us Rotaractors.  We are going to have a drawing for these tickets so stay tuned for the winners!

He also donated 4 tickets to the San Marco theater, in which our Sergeant-at-Arms drew names from attendees at the meeting.  The winners are:

Shari Collins, Angela Wells, Andrew Smith & Rachel Starford
Congrats & you can collect your ticket at the next Rotaract meeting!

This past Saturday, we had our monthly social event.  We participated in the Easter Keg Hunt, a scavenger hunt in downtown Jacksonville.  We had a wonderful time running through downtown solving clues to find these painted kegs.  Thanks to everyone that came out for this social!

Have a great week!
