This past Saturday we braved the cold and a few flurries and helped build a house with HabiJax for our monthly service event! Thanks to all of the members and guests that came out!
Our next meeting will be this Thursday, January 28th at River City Brewing Company. Our speaker will be Dr. Robin Rose, Executive Director of Girls, Inc. She will be speaking about Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace.
We look forward to seeing you there & as always guest are always welcome at our membership meetings!
This past Friday, your board met for our bi-annual extended Board Retreat, an extended version of our board meeting. We have a lot of fun & exciting events coming up so you won’t want to miss our meeting this Thursday to hear all about them!!!
This coming Saturday, January 30th is our monthly social! Get ready to “Jump Around” at Velocity Air – see detail below.
Also, please Save the Date for Thursday, February 18th – this is the date of the high school oratory contest put on by our sponsoring Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of South Jacksonville. It the finals of the contest and a scholarship(s) will be awarded to a local high school student(s). The event will be at UNF and more details are below. Also, this is a non-Rotaract meeting Thursday.
For those of you that need another dose of Rotary or are about to age out of Rotaract, the Satellite Club meets the 2nd and 4th Monday at Indochine San Marco. They have a special project coming up and we have an opportunity to work with them related to the YearUp organization. They have a speaker coming tonight to talk about this organization – an invitation has been extended to us to attend, so feel free to attend!

Most of you are probably too young to remember when that song came out, but get ready to jump around at our monthly social at Velocity Air. We are meeting at 9pm!
Velocity Air is located at:

Jacksonville, FL 32256
It’s $14 an hour. We’re meeting at 9pm because that’s when all the kids 13 and under will be gone.

Community Service
We will have two service events this month!
On February 7th, we will be volunteering at the Jacksonville Arboretum &
on February 27th, we will be volunteering with the Rotary Club of Riverside and their annual Craft Beer Festival.
More details will follow!
Oratory Contest
When: Thursday, February 18th 6pm-7pm Dinner, 7pm Contests begins
Where: UNF Adam W. Herbert University Center, 12000 Alumni Dr. Jacksonville, FL 32224
The event starts at 6pm with a buffet dinner. It is free to Rotaractors and their spouse or guest. We will need to give a head count to South Jax so we will to know your RSVP. They will also need a few volunteers for the check-in, greeting and way-finding for attendees if you would like to help out.
This is a great event and also a good opportunity to be with the Rotarians and Satellite Club.
