The President’s Corner


Happy 4th of July!  Hope you had a great holiday weekend and are ready for the start of a new Rotaract Year.  All across the world, Rotaract & Rotary President-Elects, along with their new boards, took their positions on July 1st for the next year!  Our next meeting is this Thursday, July 9th at High Tide Burrito in San Marco.

Thanks to the fellow Rotaractors that came out to ImpactJAX’s YP Expo last Tuesday at Aloft in Tapestry Park.

We met many young professionals & we hope to see them at our next membership meeting.

Marie Vogler; Haskell; Outstanding ACE Mentor

We are excited to have Marie Vogler speak to us.  She will tell us about the logistics of creating and organizing her event the Mt. Acosta Classic, a sporting event that raised funds for the Jared Bynum Scholarship Fund.  It’s coming in on its 4th year and has raised over $31,000.

First Coast Rotaract meets at Hightide Burrtito Co. the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. Join us for networking and socializing at 5:30pm, followed by our meeting at 6:15pm. Guests are welcome at our meetings, service, and social events.

Community Service

Our next service event will be July 25th.  We will be volunteering at The Marketplace at Brooks YMCA.

Social

Who’s ready for Hail & Farewell !!???!!!!  Our one of two members only socials will take place on July11th to July 12th as we will head to St. Simon’s Island for our annual Hail & Farewell!

We will meet around 10:30 in Jax to carpool for arrival at the King & Prince for around noon.  We will have beach access and access to the resort amenities such as the pools.  There’s a spa there as well if you’re in a treat yo’ self mood.  Check-in is at 4pm. 

The club will provide a picnic lunch & beverages.  If you are inclined to contribute, please coordinate with Tatty.

Our Bi-Annual Board Retreat will also occur in July.  This is where the board members plan the upcoming Rotaract year.  Board Members & Chairs, you should have received a “Doodle” for your availability for scheduling.

Rooftop Summer Bash

Our friends at Downtown Rotaract  are celebrating summer while helping out a good cause. Save the date for August 1st and join them for a rooftop party. To attend the event please bring an unused school-age-appropriate backpack to donate. The backpacks collected will then be donated to John E Ford Elementary School.
